🇺🇸 Exploring St. Paul: Cathedral & State Capitol 🏛️✨
Having moved to Minnesota just over a month ago, I recently visited downtown St. Paul and checked out the stunning Cathedral of Saint Paul and the Minnesota State Capitol. A must-see for architecture lovers! 🏰❤️ ⛪ Cathedral of Saint Paul This Roman Catholic cathedral opened in 1915 and is the third-largest Catholic church and sixth-largest church in the U.S. Designed by renowned French architect Emmanuel Louis Masqueray (lead architect of the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair), it features a unique copper dome that has oxidized into a beautiful green-blue patina over time. Inside, you’ll find gorgeous icons, statues, and stained glass windows. 😍🕊️ 🏛️ Minnesota State Capitol Just along John Ireland Boulevard stands the magnificent Minnesota State Capitol. This building houses the Minnesota Senate, House of Representatives, Attorney General’s Office, and the Governor’s Office. It’s also home to the Minnesota Supreme Court. The Capitol boasts the world’s second-largest self-supported marble dome — only St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican is larger! Inside, admire the exquisite murals and sculptures. 🎨✨ Both landmarks are rich in history and beauty — highly recommend visiting! 📸🌆 #WeekendGetaway #StudyInTheUS #Minnesota #StPaul #Minneapolis #Travel #ArchitectureLover
