🇺🇸 Las Vegas|Hakkasan|Modern Cantonese Cuisine 🥢

Hakkasan in Las Vegas is located inside MGM Grand Hotel – prices are pretty reasonable! Today I tried their Sunday afternoon tea buffet. 🥟🍵 This buffet is super popular – you need to book ahead, and even with a reservation, we still had to wait a bit. The service team seemed super busy too – our orders almost got mixed up a couple of times. 😅 But overall, it was a good experience! For Vegas, the $48/person price felt fair. The worst dish for me was the wonton – the filling wasn’t seasoned well. The best was the stir-fried asparagus – it had that authentic Cantonese wok flavor! 👌 Everything else was pretty standard. For dim sum, my favorite was the all-vegetable dumpling. The har gow (shrimp dumplings) and siu mai were average tea-house level. The roasted duck salad was creative – they paired pomegranate and pine nuts (two ingredients common in Xinjiang cuisine). As someone from Xinjiang, I never thought of that combo! 🦆🍅 The grilled fish was a bit dry, and the soy sauce was too salty. The tea-smoked ribs were well-seasoned, but I didn’t really taste any tea flavor. We ordered three desserts: • Blueberry ice cream: Looked pretty but was way too sweet. • Lemon cake: Apparently a favorite among American guests – refreshing but still very sweet. • Sesame ice cream: The best! About as sweet as Eight Treasure ice cream, with a real sesame aroma. 🍨 Las Vegas… I hope I don’t have to come back. But if I do, I might just eat here again? 🤔 PS: While waiting, I saw a teammate carrying fast-food takeout upstairs. Competing is tough – it’s kind of heartbreaking that Xiao Wang has to eat fast food alone in his hotel room. Hope he gets some proper good meals when he’s back home. 🥡💔 Have you been to Hakkasan in Vegas? What’s your favorite Cantonese spot in town?
