🇺🇸 Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Philly|Just Another Pretty Place

I’m starting to think I should write a Philly Restaurants to Skip series. This one isn’t exactly a full-on “avoid,” but more like… don’t bother unless you really have to. Another case of all looks, no soul. 🥑🧀 Appetizer: Guacamole topped with goat cheese As a cheese lover + guac fanatic, I’ll admit — this was pretty tasty! Creamy, savory, and perfect with drinks. 🥩 Steak — Why my dining partner ordered steak at a Mexican restaurant is beyond me. It came with a whole bundle of scallions on top 🌱. I won’t even comment on the steak itself, but the cheesy corn underneath was heavenly — almost transcendental. Moral: Order what the restaurant is good at. 🦐 Side: Grilled shrimp in garlic olive oil Looked and tasted like it came straight from a Spanish tapas bar — very similar to something you’d get at Barcelona Wine Bar. Extremely salty — one bite and you could feel your arteries hardening 😵. 🌋 Molcajete (Mexican lava stone bowl) A pretty-looking pot with a bit of everything inside — but honestly, not great. It resembled the guacamole bowl way too much. My advice: Only order this if you’re in a group of 4+, or if you’re on keto and plan to ditch the cheese. 🍹 Drinks were okay — but if a Mexican spot can’t even get drinks right, that’s just sad. Verdict: Better to pass on this one. Or just grab a couple of drinks and the guacamole if you’re nearby. Otherwise, save your appetite (and arteries) for somewhere else. #Philadelphia #PhillyEats #PhillyRestaurants #PhillyFood #PhillyLife #UPenn #StudyInPhilly
