🇺🇸 Miami Botanical Garden - A Perfect Destination for Plant Lovers!
In Miami, we were brainstorming where to go next... We'd already taken photos at the Vizcaya Museum gazebo 📸, watched sunsets at South Beach 🌅, enjoyed mojitos at Cafe La Trova 🍹, ridden airboats in the Everglades and happily spotted several cute alligators... Finally we decided to drive to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden - a place we hadn't seen recommended anywhere and didn't have high expectations for initially. When we reached the lakeside, we spotted a giant tegu lizard! 🦎 While taking pictures, we noticed the tram was about to depart and quickly grabbed the last seats. This turned out to be the most valuable part of the $25 admission! 🚂 The lovely volunteer guide gave her all explaining everything - nearly a century ago, Dr. Fairchild decided to introduce tropical plants to America, befriended other plant enthusiasts and architects, and they collaborated together, designing and importing to create this miraculous botanical garden in Miami where tropical plants can grow year-round. Following the tram route, we entered the only "tropical rainforest" on the US mainland - my absolute favorite part! 🌴 It's miniature but has everything. Artificial mist combined with afternoon light created beautiful Tyndall effects, making it wonderfully cool to walk through. We got off and wandered inside for a while - tall trees rustled with echoing sounds. We also passed through the palmetum, seeing dozens of different palm varieties. Interestingly, the guide said palms aren't actually trees but herbaceous plants because they lack growth rings! The garden also has a butterfly exhibit 🦋 where they flutter right around people! My favorite was the blue butterfly that looks exactly like the emoji! 💙 The lake water is crystal clear, with many silly birds hunting for food along the shore. The lawns are expansive too - the guide mentioned they also serve as wedding venues! 💒 This botanical garden feels particularly perfect for plant enthusiasts, and also makes a wonderful weekend getaway for office workers suffering from eye strain during summer. It's peaceful, cool, and during off-peak hours, the entire garden seems to whisper with only trees and flowing water - between heaven and earth there's only blue and green, helping you rediscover your own breathing rhythm. 🌊💚 The garden is huge - you can easily spend several hours exploring. With no phone signal, we studied the paper map to plan our route - a rare experience for this city dweller indeed! What's your favorite peaceful escape from city life?
