🇺🇸 Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge

After visiting the Hoover Dam and taking the tours, we moved our car to the open parking lot (navigate to Boulder Dam Bridge parking) and walked along the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. 🌉 🔝 You can switch the order of visiting the dam and the bridge. If you plan to join the tours, it’s best to finish the tours first and then walk the bridge in the morning. The bridge, constructed starting in 2005, spans the canyon between Arizona and Nevada and helps ease traffic around the Hoover Dam. It stretches 1,905 feet (about 579 meters) in length and stands 890 feet (270 meters) high, making it the second tallest bridge in the United States. It officially opened in 2010 and won the 2012 PCA Bridge Design Award. 🏆 The bridge is named in honor of two individuals: • Mike O'Callaghan, Governor of Nevada from 1971 to 1979. • Pat Tillman, an NFL star safety for the Arizona Cardinals who enlisted in the military in 2002 and lost his life during duty in 2004. Made of concrete and steel, the bridge allows pedestrians to walk across and enjoy breathtaking views of the Hoover Dam and Lake Colorado. When you stop, you might feel the bridge sway slightly—those with a fear of heights, take note! 😅 Although 579 meters isn’t extremely long, under the intense late-March sun with temperatures soaring above 30°C (86°F), the dry heat felt relentless. Thank goodness we brought hats and water, or we might have literally been smoking under the sun! 🔥☀️ If you have a free day in Las Vegas, I highly recommend visiting this spot. The views are unforgettable! Have you walked this bridge or visited the Hoover Dam?
