It’s much more affordable than NYC or Boston (though renting is still hell 😅), the water is clean (your hair is safe! 💇🏻‍♀️), and while it feels like a slow-paced “village,” the artist and maker community is incredibly connected. It’s easy to be seen, collaborate, and create here – almost everyone knows everyone, and things move surprisingly fast! 😏 Providence is truly a sanctuary for artists in the US: 🎨 AS220 – Exhibits any work you create 🖼️ RISD Art Museum – Paintings, sculptures, textiles, photography 🖨️ Binch Press / Queer Archive Work – Printmaking + open archives 🍶 Anyhow Studios – Ceramics classes and open studios 🔥 Steel Yard – Teaches welding, forging, jewelry-making + annual iron-pouring event! 👩‍🎨 Dirt Palace – Supported 50+ women artists, exhibited 200+ 👗 The Nest – Sustainable fashion collective with workshops ☕ Small Format – More than a café – an artist hangout 🎒 Lost Bag – A bit of everything: shows, music, events 🎸 College artists everywhere + underground punk shows all over!
