🇺🇸 Sacramento | Getaway from the Bay Area

Sacramento – also known as Sactown or “Three Buns” 🍙 – is California’s capital, founded in December 1849 by John Sutter. It’s the fifth most populous city in CA and played a key role during the Gold Rush as a hub for commerce, agriculture, wagon trains, steamboats, telegraphs, the Pony Express, and the First Transcontinental Railroad 🚂🌾. Today, it hosts California’s government and Sacramento County offices. Here’s what to do in Sacramento: Stroll across the golden Tower Bridge 🌉 – feel the historic Gold Rush vibe! Walk along the river in Old Sac 🚢 – see vintage steamboats, catch a passing train, or even hop on a city excursion train. Explore unique shops in Old Sacramento – step into a classic Western-style town 🏜️🛍️. Visit the California State Railroad Museum 🚆 – a must-see with impressive exhibits (more in a separate post!). Wander R Street downtown – sip coffee ☕ and admire larger-than-life murals adding color to the city 🎨. Experience nightlife at a mermaid-themed Dive Bar 🧜‍♀️🍹 – dress up and enjoy a fun night (opens in September @ 1016 K St). Pose at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament ⛪ – feels just like Europe! Visit the California State Capitol Museum 📸 – snap pics and have a picnic on the lawn 🧺🌳. Get lost in Midway Antique Mall ⏳ – travel back in time to America’s 60s–80s (or even earlier!). Bring kids to the Aerospace Museum of California ✈️ – located near McClellan Air Force Base with real jets often flying overhead! Next on my list: 🎬 Visit Lady Bird movie locations 🍽️ Try new restaurants 🏀 Catch a game at Golden 1 Center 🚂 Revisit the Railroad Museum! #Sacramento #VisitSac #BayAreaWeekends #CaliforniaCapital #GoldRushHistory #FamilyTravel #HistoricTown #WeekendVibes #TravelCalifornia #NorCal 📍✨
