🇺🇸 Salt Lake City|A Legacy Bakery|Mrs. Backer's 🎂✨
Having lived in Utah for over ten years, I’ve passed this bakery countless times—always curious but telling myself, “Next time!” Finally, today was that day. Stepping inside felt like riding a time machine back to the last century, when vibrant, colorful cakes 🍰 ruled—no gluten-free or keto worries, and Instagram aesthetics weren’t yet mainstream. Crystal chandeliers, rainbow lights 🌈, and bright floral piping 💐… Hello, old times! The Backer family’s baking tradition dates back 700 years to Germany 🇩🇪. They still preserve the wooden cookie molds and recipes brought over when they immigrated to the U.S. Since opening in 1941, the business has been passed down to the grandchildren. The shop’s interior and exterior retain their 80-year-old original charm, with most customers being loyal regulars for decades. In today’s trend of minimalism and Instagram style, this dedication to vintage tradition feels truly precious. Their signature Retro Floral Cake 🍰 uses buttercream frosting—unique, custom-designed piping tips, and each cake is one-of-a-kind. They insist on no freezing and no pre-made mixes, setting them apart from fast-food bakery chains. The attention to detail is incredible—even staff uniforms and receipts are pink! Besides cakes, pastries, and cookies, they also sell seasonal and holiday-themed cute little items. All cute-loving friends must visit! 🎀 Flavor-wise, it’s classic American—very sweet! Perfect for little ABCs at home. ⭐️ Mexican Cookie was pretty good. Their Meat Pie 🥙 was okay—staff can heat it up for you. It’s similar to Chinese stuffed pies but not quite as amazing. 📍 434 E S Temple St, Salt Lake City, UT #LifeAbroad #OldSchool #CenturyOldBusiness #SaltLakeCity #SaltLakeCityEats #Utah #SLCLife #FoodExplore #WeekendVibes #FoodDiary #FoodShare #USFoodie #Inspiration #UtahEats #WeekendIdeas #DailyFood #GirlyVibes #PinkAesthetic #SweetTooth #DessertLife #HiddenGems #Bakeries #RetroCharm #VintageStyle
