Salt Lake City Affordable Solo Dining Diary
Sesame Beef Noodles — about $23 after tax (tip at your discretion). Not sure if that’s considered expensive in SLC. For me, it was a bit salty but very fragrant — kind of like youpo mian but less greasy. The noodles are different from Northern Chinese style — less chewy. Includes Sichuan peppercorns but not spicy. The beef was tender and shredded easily. Mushrooms in the broth mixed with the beef made each bite super satisfying. Portion was generous — could last me 1.5 to 2 meals (note: I’m not a big eater). Couldn’t resist ordering skewers too — all pretty good: 🐔 Chicken heart 🍄 Mushroom 🐔 Chicken skin 🐷 Pork cheek — my favorite! Surprisingly tasty and not fatty. 🐂 Beef The mocktail came with a funny tooth-shaped garnish — no idea what that meant 😄 📍 Bar Nohm 165 W 900 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84101 Lately I’ve been eating solo a lot — wanted to start documenting spots that work for one.
