🇺🇸 Salt Lake City Japanese Cuisine|Takashi – A Slight Letdown 🍣😕

The famous…Takashi! Just…average! After returning from Yellowstone, we craved Japanese food. Searching online, we found many recommendations for downtown’s Takashi, hailed as the "best Japanese restaurant in Salt Lake City." We went with high hopes. The sweet shrimp and sea urchin were the best—sweet, creamy, and tender, with the sea urchin having an almost ice-cream-like texture. 🍤🌊 But everything else was pretty mediocre. The tuna was especially disappointing—we ordered Toro, and it just wasn’t good 🥹. It lacked the rich, buttery texture you’d expect from fatty tuna. The sashimi platter was also just okay, with some pieces not tasting fresh at all. The restaurant is quite popular—it opens at 5:30 PM, but we arrived at 5:15 and there was already a long line. It seemed like mostly white professionals from nearby offices. If you plan to go, arriving early might be necessary. Conclusion: Overhyped and not really worth it. If you go with no expectations and just order the sweet shrimp and sea urchin, it might be okay. But if you’re expecting something amazing, you might end up disappointed like I did. 😂 💰: Around $80+ per person for two. #SaltLakeCity #SaltLakeCityEats #Takashi #JapaneseFood #FoodReview #FoodLetdown #MixedFeelings #NotWhatIExpected #SushiLovers #HypeVsReality #DiningOut #UrbanEats #FoodieLife #KeepItReal
