๐บ๐ธ San Antonio | 5 Days & 4 Nights of Tex-Mex & Texas Spirit ๐ฎ
San Antonio is a vibrant, multicultural city rich in Latino flair โ where Spanish guitar and mariachi music fill the streets ๐ถ, and colorful Mexican tiles and arched architecture make you feel like you're wandering through a historic Spanish pueblo ๐ก๐. The area was originally home to Indigenous peoples like the Payaya, who lived along the San Antonio River ๐. In 1718, the Spanish founded the first mission and presidio here, which later grew into the World Heritage-listed San Antonio Missions ๐๏ธ๐. After Mexico gained independence in 1821, the city remained a key border settlement. Then came the legendary Battle of the Alamo in 1836 โ where Texan defenders fought to the last, and โRemember the Alamo!โ became a lasting cry of Texas courage and pride ๐ฃ๏ธ๐ฅ. ๐จ Stay: We stayed at the Marriott RiverCenter โ got upgraded to a higher floor with a nice view of the Tower of the Americas ๐๐ผ. ๐ฝ๏ธ Eat & Drink: โ Pinkertonโs Barbecue (visited 3 times!): Loved the brisket and pulled pork ๐ฅฉ. Pork ribs were a bit salty, and sadly we missed out on the beef rib. โ La Panaderรญa Bakery Cafรฉ: Almond croissant was decent ๐ฅ, but the coffee and Eggs Benedict didnโt quite hit the mark (maybe UK brunch has spoiled me โ๐ ). โ Domingo Restaurant: Waited an hour โ not super hungry by the time we were seated. The short rib quesadilla was tender and tasty though ๐ฏ. โ The Frosty Dog: Sipped a peach frozen margarita by the river with live jazz in the background โ pure bliss ๐น๐ท๐. โ Fogo de Chรฃo: Finally tried Brazilian churrasco! Loved the lamb chops and ribeye ๐๐ฅ. The cheese bread was amazing โ but skip the maple-spiced papaya. Classy setting, too! โ Amorino: Got the flower-shaped gelato ๐ธ๐ง โ even cheaper than in Cambridge, and just as delicious! We spent most of our time along the River Walk, and even caught a Spurs vs. Pelicans game ๐๐ฅ โ my first NBA match! With an ice-cold Modelo in hand, I truly felt that โFighting spirit of San Antonioโ ๐ปโค๏ธ. #SanAntonio #TexMex #TravelTexas #Alamo #RiverWalk #NBA #FoodDiary #CulturalVibes
