🇺🇸 Vegas Billionaire Invested $100 Million 💵✨
I haven’t been in Vegas long, but I’ve already grown tired of all the imitation architecture lining the Strip. But this building—shaped like “crumpled tin foil”—stands out boldly, and somehow, it just works. 🏗️🌀 Architect: Frank Gehry Completed: 2010 Cost: $100 Million Visit for Free at: Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (Indoor tours require advance booking) The story behind it: Larry Ruvo, a wealthy Las Vegas businessman, had everything in life—except his father, Lou Ruvo, who suffered from Alzheimer’s and in his final days forgot who his own children were. 💔 Larry realized money isn’t everything—but it can fund a brain disease research center named after his dad, designed by the legendary Frank Gehry. At first, Gehry refused. He thought Vegas was “too lowbrow” and always turned down projects here. But then, a colleague lost his wife to Huntington’s disease—and Gehry changed his mind. 🕊️ The building’s signature twisted metal shell symbolizes a diseased brain. Inside, it houses world-class labs researching neurocognitive disorders like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and autism. 🧠🔬 As the client said: “There are no gambling tables here—only a bet on whether humanity can conquer forgetting.” ♠️❤️ Have you visited this architectural marvel?
