🇿🇦 Western Cuisine in Johannesburg, South Africa
Last month, I stayed in Joburg for a while and tried several Western restaurants—here's my rundown! 🍕 Café del Sol Botanico (Italian) 📍 Located in a mall Fresh, vibrant decor with a visible pizza oven (freshly baked = delicious by default!). Must-try: Fried squid heads (unique preparation, generous portion). Desserts were pretty but too sweet for my taste. 🇰🇷 BANCHAN (Korean) 🔥 Probably Joburg’s most popular Korean spot! No seats inside on a weekday night—had to sit outside. Scan-to-order with a Chinese menu (super convenient!). Highlights: Kimchi pancake (spicy & tasty) + crispy sweet & spicy wings. Skip: Bibimbap (meh) and pre-grilled BBQ (average). 🍣 The Godfather (Seafood & Sushi) 🌃 Don’t judge by day—packed at night! Stunning rooftop balcony with Joburg skyline views. Food: Standard seafood, but sushi was decent. Dessert: Crème brûlée (not overly sweet—win!). Vibes > Flavors here. 🍽️ Southern Sun Sandton (Buffet) Hybrid dining: Self-serve buffet or à la carte. Decent spread (typical buffet fare), but the bakery section stood out. Best part: Outdoor terrace with great views & breeze. ☕ Manaka Coffee (Café) Croissants (especially the loaded ones) were rich but heavy. French toast = too thick & doughy for me. Coffee = standard pairing, nothing extraordinary. 🥐 PAUL (Bakery/Café) "Fancier" than Manaka, with a tempting dessert display (but overly sweet—beware!). Still, croissants are the safest bet. 🌿 O‘s (Parys Town – 1hr from Joburg) Gorgeous setting: Flowers, trees, and a pond. Huge portions, but flavors were just okay. #SouthAfrica #JoburgEats #FoodieTravel #Johannesburg #RestaurantReviews
