🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Glasgow: The Surprising Metropolis!

We originally planned to visit Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and Northern Ireland 🇮🇪, but Edinburgh’s accommodation prices were crazy expensive—so we stayed in Glasgow for two nights instead. A family-friendly B&B with a kitchen for two nights cost less than one night in Edinburgh! And wow—Glasgow is HUGE! Not just Scotland’s largest city, but also one of the top three biggest in the UK. Our bad for underestimating you, Glasgow! 😅 🚶 Our Classic One-Day Itinerary: 📍 University of Glasgow ✨ 600+ years of history—stunning Gothic architecture, perfect for photos (especially the arched cloisters). Fun fact: Adam Smith was once its rector! 🦴 The Hunterian Museum has cool (but slightly creepy) exhibits—animal specimens, medical oddities, and more. 📍 Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum 🖼️ Unexpectedly amazing! Works by Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso—but the star is Salvador Dalí’s mind-blowing Christ of St. John of the Cross. He claimed inspiration came from two dreams... sure, Dalí, sure. 😂 📍 Glasgow Cathedral ⛪ The birthplace of Glasgow—built where a missionary first settled. We arrived near closing (4 PM), so we admired its soot-blackened Gothic exterior. It’s Scotland’s only surviving medieval cathedral—pretty epic! 📍 Glasgow Necropolis ⚰️ A cemetery with a view—literally! Sprawling and atmospheric (especially in drizzling rain). We spotted the Batman filming location where Bruce Wayne and Catwoman parted ways on a motorcycle. 🏍️ 📍 Street Murals 🎨 Rain got heavier, but we trekked to see the St. Mungo mural—a modern twist on Glasgow’s patron saint. The city’s urban art scene is a whole attraction itself! Final stats: ✔️ 10,000+ steps ✔️ A whirlwind tour ✔️ Zero regrets #HiddenGems #UKTravel #Scotland #Glasgow #OffTheBeatenPath #TravelDiaries #ArtLovers #HistoricSites #OneDayInGlasgow #Wanderlust ✨📸
