2 Weeks to Explore 5 Southern African Countries

🌍 2 Weeks to Explore 5 Southern African Countries in Late May-Early June SouthAfrica Namibia Botswana Zimbabwe Zambia Like most office workers, I only have limited annual leave. This 2-week itinerary isn’t perfect, but it ticks all my boxes: mountains, oceans, deserts, waterfalls, and wildlife. 🗺️ Itinerary ▪️ South Africa (2 days, ) Focus on Cape Town: 1 day in the city (Table Mountain, Signal Hill, Camps Bay, V&A Waterfront). 1 day outside the city (Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Simon’s Town Penguin Colony, Hout Bay Seal Island). ▪️ Namibia (3-4 days, ) Highlights: Sossusvlei’s red dunes & Deadvlei (1-2 days), Walvis Bay’s sand-sea landscape & seal kayaking (1-1.5 days), cheetah encounters near Windhoek (0.5-1 day). ▪️ Zimbabwe & Zambia (2-3 days,) Victoria Falls from all angles: light hiking, helicopter tours, Zambezi River sunset cruises, bridge bungee jumping, and the Devil’s Pool (dry season only—missed it this time). ▪️ Botswana (1-2 days, Chobe Safari recommended as a 2D1N tour, conveniently connected to Victoria Falls. Note: 8-11 days for pure travel, plus 4-5 days for flights and drives. ✈️ Transportation ▪️ Flights between South Africa, Namibia, and the Zimbabwe-Zambia-Botswana triangle. ▪️ Taxis, private cars, or group tours within the Zimbabwe-Zambia-Botswana triangle. ▪️ Taxis/sightseeing buses in South Africa; self-drive/private cars for day trips. ▪️ Self-drive/private cars/group tours in Namibia. ⚠️ Safety Tips ▪️ South Africa: Avoid car break-ins. Plan routes to skip slums, lock doors immediately, and hide belongings (floor or trunk, not seats). ▪️ Namibia: Watch out for road accidents. Most roads outside cities are gravel/potholed—learn to change tires and drive slowly. ▪️ Zimbabwe-Zambia-Botswana: Wildlife encounters. Large animals may roam streets at night—always drive, never walk after dark. ➕ Travel Hacks ▪️ English is widely spoken in all 5 countries. ▪️ Right-hand drive, left-side traffic. ▪️ South African Rand works in SA and Namibia (Namibian dollar also used). USD is king in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. ▪️ Late May-early June: Hot days, cold nights—pack for summer and autumn. #Travel #Africa
