3-Day Food Guide to Portland, Maine ❤️🔥
Here’s a roundup of all the delicious spots I tried over three days in Portland—each with its own highlights and little tips! Becky’s Diner 🦞 This spot was highly recommended by a friend and is also super popular on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book). We headed straight here for dinner on our first night, and it didn’t disappoint (for the most part)! Lobster Roll: It’s their signature dish, and the lobster meat is incredibly fresh 💛—sweet, tender, and packed into the bun. The only downside? The bread isn’t butter-toasted, so it’s not as crispy or rich as some other lobster rolls I’ve had. Still tasty, but not the best in terms of texture. Seafood Platter (Top-Left in the Photo): This was the star of the meal! I just showed the server a photo of it to order, and it came loaded with all kinds of seafood—shrimp, scallops, maybe a little lobster—and smothered in a creamy sauce. The sauce was rich but not greasy, and every bite was full of ocean-fresh flavor. 100% worth ordering ✅! Sides to Skip: Avoid the baked potato and mixed vegetables. The baked potato is just a plain whole potato, and the mixed veggies are just steamed—no seasoning, no flavor, totally boring 🥹. Pricing Tip: Their drinks are a bit pricey, but if you skip alcohol, the average cost per person is around $40—great value for the seafood! ISF Trading 🐟 This seafood wholesale spot is tucked in an alley right next to Becky’s Diner—make sure to check their opening hours first so you don’t make a wasted trip! It’s a must-visit for raw seafood lovers. Sashimi Set: Their pre-made sashimi sets are amazing—packed with a variety of fresh cuts 🍣 (think salmon, tuna, sweet shrimp, and more). The fish melts in your mouth, and you can taste how fresh it is. Last-Minute Grab: Before we left Portland, I stopped by again to buy more sashimi to make a homemade chirashi bowl (rice bowl topped with sashimi) later—it was just as delicious as eating it in the shop! Personal Favorites: My friend couldn’t get enough of their squid sashimi, while I was obsessed with the salmon roe (ikura)—bursting with briny-sweet flavor! The uni (sea urchin) was also a standout—super sweet with zero fishiness. If you love fresh sashimi, this place is a dream 😄! Bayside American Cafe ☕️ We loved this brunch spot so much, we went two days in a row! It’s that good—but be prepared to wait around 30 minutes for a table, so plan your timing accordingly. Must-Try Dishes: Lobster Benedict: Creamy hollandaise sauce, perfectly poached eggs, and chunks of fresh lobster on an English muffin—rich, savory, and so satisfying. The roasted potatoes on the side were seasoned to perfection too—crispy on the outside, fluffy inside. Fruit Bowl: It’s huge—loaded with fresh berries, sliced bananas, maybe some granola, and a drizzle of honey. Refreshing and a great way to balance out heavier dishes. Omelet with Sausage & Bacon: Fluffy omelet packed with savory sausage and crispy bacon—simple but done so well. Every bite was hearty and delicious 😋. Dishes to Watch For: My friend ordered the French toast (which was great!) and the lobster scrambled eggs—but the eggs had goat cheese in them. If you can’t stand the tangy/earthy taste of goat cheese, definitely skip this one! Drinks & Breads: The chai latte was a letdown—it was way too weak, with almost no chai flavor. The wheat bread was also just average, so stick to their main dishes instead. Overall, this is one of the best brunch spots in Portland—don’t miss it if you’re in town! #MaineTravel #PortlandMaineFood #BarHarborFood
