3-Day Itinerary for Portland + Acadia National Park đ
The number of EV charging stations in Maine is even fewer than in Boston, so friends planning to drive an electric car here are better off coming with a gasoline-powered one. Day 1: Drive 6 Hours from Montreal to Portland Portland Head Light: A must-visit lighthouse! It looks fantastic in photos taken from a distance. Trader Joeâs: I make it a point to go every time Iâm in the USâitâs just so great for shopping! There isnât a single Trader Joeâs between Portland and Acadia, so if you want to go, be sure to visit the one in Downtown Portland. ISF Trading: Following up on our previous discussionâJune isnât sea urchin season right now, so the sea urchins we had werenât very fresh or sweet. Itâs recommended to go in September to buy their saltwater sea urchins. The sashimi is quite ordinary, so I donât recommend it. Also, itâs a good idea to bring your own rice and seaweed; a small box of Korean rice here costs $4. đ Overnight Stay: In Freeport, a 15-minute drive from Portland. Thereâs an outlet mall there worth checking out (Address: 1 Freeport Farms). Day 2: Drive 3 Hours to Bar Harbor We originally planned to go whale watching today, but we were notified 3 hours before the boat departed that the trip was canceled due to bad weather. Bar Harbor Whale Watch Co.: This is the company we booked for whale watching. Even though we didnât get to go, it has a 4.5-star rating on Google, so itâs probably really good. Ben & Bill's Chocolate Emporium: Their lobster ice cream costs around $8. There are chunks of frozen lobster meat in the ice cream, and itâs slightly saltyâpretty unique! Agamont Park âď¸: A harbor where you can go down to dip your feet in the water. We saw a pink sunset here! Acadia National Park â Ocean Path Trailhead: Drive to Sand Beach, then hike along the coast to Thunder Hole, Monument Cove, and Otter Cliff. The round-trip hike takes about an hour. đ Overnight Stay: In Bar Harborâhighly recommended! You can park your car directly at the hotel. Street parking here is hard to find and costs money, plus itâs super close to the national park (only a 10-minute walk to Bar Harbor). Day 3: Explore Acadia National Park in the Morning, Then Head to Canada in the Afternoon In the morning, we continued exploring Acadia National Park đââď¸ and went to the summit of Cadillac Mountain. You need to buy an additional "Reservation for Vehicle" ticket on the official website for $6. Except for sunrise tickets (which are hard to get), tickets for regular time slots are usually available the same day. The view here is amazingâdefinitely a must-visit! After that, we drove to Canada in the afternoon. #Maine #MaineTravel #NorthAmericanLife #NorthAmericanRoadTrip #SeamlessPuzzle #RecordTheMoment #RecordMyMayDay
