3 Days in Maine | Ogunquit, the “Beautiful Place by the Sea” (Day 3)
After leaving Bar Harbor, we drove south toward Boston. Not long after passing Portland, we pulled into Ogunquit—and let me gush a little: this tiny town instantly became my favorite spot of the whole 3-day trip! 🥰 It’s the perfect coastal escape, with all the charm you could dream of: soft, sandy beaches to walk on, tall trees casting cool shade for picnics, and even locals out on the water—some paddling kayaks at a lazy pace, others setting up gear to go crabbing along the shore. 🛶🦀 Fun fact: The name “Ogunquit” comes from the language of the local Abenaki Indigenous people, and it means “beautiful place by the sea”—and honestly? That name is 100% on point. It fits this town like a glove! We spent a while just sitting by the estuary, where the river merges with the ocean. The river water was so calm and crystal-clear, a lovely shade of blue that glinted in the sun. We watched as kayakers drifted slowly toward the shore, taking their time to savor the quiet—no hurry, no agenda. Nearby, the salt marshes looked lush and lively, thanks to the seawater that nourishes them. Fluffy patches of bright green reeds swayed gently in the breeze, like little waves of grass 🌿. It was one of those slow, peaceful moments that make travel feel so magical—no rush to check the next spot off the list, no noise to distract us. Just us, the sound of water, and the beauty of the coast. Pure bliss! ✨ #MaineTravel #BostonSurroundings #GotoTheSeaside
