4-Day & 3-Night Guide to Acadia National Park
Day 0: Drive from Boston to Portland in the Afternoon 🏨 Hilton Garden Inn Portland Airport Affordable price with spacious rooms, free parking, and just a 10-minute drive to downtown. We ended up staying here because hotel prices in the city skyrocketed on Memorial Day (we didn’t book in advance) 😅. Day 1: Morning in Portland, Leisurely Drive to Acadia in the Afternoon 🦞 11:00 AM: Becky's Diner Starts serving lobster rolls at 11 AM. We ordered a lobster roll, fried lobster from the lunch special, and clam chowder—all were delicious! Free parking is available, but you may need to wait about 30 minutes 🕒. 🛍️ While Waiting for a Table Found a fantastic resale clothing store nearby: Haberdashery Resale Clothing Co. We browsed so long that we almost overspent—we nearly bought over $300 worth of clothes! 🛍️ 🏨 Accommodation for 3 Nights: Atlantic Eyrie Lodge Balcony with ocean views, huge rooms, deer grazing on the lawn below every day, free breakfast, and 24-hour hot water/coffee. Great value for the price 🌊🦌. Day 2: Hiking Day! 🥾 Beehive Trail (Classic hiking trail with scenic views) 🏖️ Sand Beach (Relax in the sun + picnic 🧺) 🥾 Ocean Path Trail (Coastal trail with stunning ocean vistas) Day 3: Hiking + Sunset 🥾 Jordan Pond Path & South Bubble (Scenic loop around the pond with mountain backdrops) 🌄 Sunset at Cadillac Mountain Booked a 5:30 PM slot to go up Cadillac Mountain for sunset. We wandered around, took photos, and the timing was perfect for the sunset show 🌇. Day 4 🌅 Sunrise at Cadillac Mountain Woke up at 3:40 AM to catch the sunrise—why back-to-back sunset and sunrise? Because we couldn’t get slots on other days! 😂 🥾 Hiking: Gorham Mountain Loop Checked out after sleeping in. The Precipice Trail we originally planned to do was closed due to the bird breeding season, so we did the Gorham Mountain Loop instead—highly recommended! You can take the uphill route after finishing the Ocean Path without backtracking, and it can even be combined with the Beehive Trail. 🌟 Pro Tip for Short on Time If you only have time for one route: Park at Thunder Cave, hike the Gorham Trail clockwise, and when you go downhill, you’ll pass the Beehive Trail—this way you can experience both trails in one go! 🦞 Lunch: The Travelin Lobster, LLC Stopped here for a whole lobster on the drive back to Portland. It was sweet, meaty, but eating it by ourselves was messy—my eating style was quite a sight! 😂 The table next to us, who ordered lobster rolls, kept watching me “battle” the lobster (I even pricked my hand). 🛍️ Freeport Outlets Stopped to browse on the way. Coach items were super affordable and cute—other brands were just so-so 🛍️. 🏨 Return Stay: Hilton Garden Inn Portland Airport (Back to the same airport hotel for convenience) #BostonLife #BostonLiving #BostonArea #Maine #MaineTravel #AcadiaNationalPark #AcadiaNationalParkGuide #Acadia #AcadiaSunsetAtSummit
