4-Day Speedrun in Fairbanks
šļøššØEven though this trip felt a bit rushed, I think I managed to cover almost everything worth doing! š Hereās a little recap with some highlights and⦠well, a few interesting moments š šā𦺠Dog Sledding ā Firewalkers Alaskan Malamute If youāre planning to try dog sledding in Fairbanks, I totally recommend Firewalkers Alaskan Malamute! I spent way too much time scrolling through Google reviews comparing all the dog sledding tours in the area, and honestly, their dogs are THE CUTEST! š¾ā¤ļø The owner (or main musher) is a Russian guyāsuper friendly and super professional. One thing to note: they only accept cash! šµ To book, you can call or text the number on their official website. The whole experience was freezing but incredibly funāthose fluffy malamutes pulling the sled through snowy trails⦠absolutely unforgettable! Definitely a must-do if youāre in Fairbanks during winter! š Near the Arctic Circle This part of the trip truly embodied the saying: āThe journey matters more than the destination.ā š£ļøāØ The landscapes along the way were breathtakingāvast white emptiness, frozen rivers, and endless snowy forests. As for the Arctic Circle itself⦠well, itās one of those places you might regret going to (but I donāt regret it at all because⦠I GOT ENGAGED HERE! ššā¤ļø), but youād also regret not going. Itās mostly a symbolic visitāyou stand on a line, take a photo, and say āIāve been to the Arctic Circle!ā Still, the drive itself was so worth it. The raw, untouched beauty of Alaskaās wilderness is something else. š« Reindeer Ranch Okay, this one was⦠interesting. š When I booked the Reindeer Ranch tour, I low-key expected some kind of sleigh ride or interactive activity. But nopeāit was basically a reindeer observation session. And by observation, I mean watching them eat, sleep, and⦠poop. A lot. š© Theyāre cute, donāt get me wrong, but wow, those guys are STINKY. Like, really, impressively smelly. Maybe it was just the day I went, but it felt more like a wildlife bathroom break than an adventure. Not sure if Iād recommend unless youāre really into reindeer⦠or their⦠aromas. š« Northern Lights Outbreak on the Way Back from the Arctic Circle We got SO LUCKY! š On our way back from the Arctic Circle, the skies cleared up andāBAMāaurora explosion! It was my first time seeing the Northern Lights, and I was literally screaming in the car. š±āØ The greens and purples were dancing right above us, swirling and shifting like something out of a fantasy movie. We pulled over, turned off the engine, and just stared in silence (after freaking out, of course). It was magical, spiritual, and honestly one of the most beautiful things Iāve ever witnessed. If youāre going to Fairbanks, chasing the aurora is a must. Just dress warm and be patient! āØļø Chena Hot Springs We went to Chena Hot Springs at night⦠and saw basically nothing. š Well, except for these eerie, almost hellish red lights glowing around the hot spring area. It gave off major underworld vibesālike something out of a horror game. Still, we managed to take a few moody photos that kinda slayed? šøš„ The water was warm and relaxing, but I wish weād gone during daylight to actually see the surrounding scenery. At night, itās just you, the steam, and⦠spooky red lighting. Not exactly the serene natural spring experience I imagined, but hey, it made for some interesting content! Overall, Fairbanks was a blastāa mix of adventure, romance, smelly reindeer, and magical skies. If youāre short on time, itās totally possible to speedrun the main attractions, but Iād recommend taking it slow if you can. Alaskaās beauty is in its vastness and silence. Definitely coming back someday! āļøš¤ #US #Alaska #Firewalkers Alaskan Malamute
