6 Must-Try Restaurants in Honolulu, Hawaii 🌺

Having visited Oahu three times, I’ve curated this food guide just for my fellow Chinese food lovers ❤️. You can find all locations using Google Maps or any navigation app. 🍣 JAPANESE SUSHI & OMAKASE 1️⃣ Sushi Ginza Onodera ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the top two omakase spots on the island (the other is Sushi Sho). We tried the $350 dinner course — no tip needed! Generous servings of sakizuke and nigiri. Each fish was shown on an iPad with Chinese captions 🐟📱 The O-toro was heavenly, and the matcha pudding at the end was the perfect finish. 2️⃣ Sushi Maru ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A local-recommended omakase — we sat in a private room (no counter seating). 21 courses! Huge portions. The appetizers stood out more — abalone and octopus were memorable 🐙. We also added a mini uni don — highly recommend. 3️⃣ Izakaya Uosan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Came specifically for the UNI DON (sea urchin rice) 🍚🤤 Sea urchin + raw egg over sushi rice — I could eat three bowls! Their sashimi and shellfish are also super fresh. Try all the different styles of grilled wagyu 🥩. 🥢 CHINESE FOOD 4️⃣ Zizi Noodle ⭐️⭐️ A branch of the famous California-based noodle shop 🇺🇸🍜 Perfect when you’re tired of Japanese food. They serve Chongqing-style noodles and dishes like Huang Men Ji (braised chicken rice). Just okay — not a must, but decent. 5️⃣ Honolulu Skewer House ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic NORTHEASTERN CHINESE BBQ in Hawaii! 🍢 The skewers rotate automatically — no turning needed. Meat is fresh, seasoning is savory and legit. They give complimentary mini tanghulu (candied fruit) after the meal 🍡 Call ahead to reserve — waits can be long. Closes at 11 PM. 🏮 JAPANESE IZAKAYA 6️⃣ Aburiya Ibushi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A cozy izakaya with real charcoal-grilled skewers 🔥 I always sit at the counter to watch the master grilling.
