A 10-Day South Africa Itinerary Review
Absolutely True! If You Don't Obsess Over the I'd Actually Recommend You Can Still Go on Safari to See the Big Five, and the Key Difference Is That the Safari Vehicles Here Have No Windows—Way More Thrilling Than in East Africa! But that's just the appetizer. We'll also be heading out to sea 👨💻 to swim with seals 🦭, watch whales 🐳 in coastal towns, and see penguins 🐧. Plus, let's not forget the breathtaking sunsets over Table Mountain, known as "God's Table." And of course, South Africa is a shopper's paradise! With affordable diamonds 💎, leather goods, wine 🍷, and indigenous crafts, it's impossible to suppress the urge to buy! 📍 Day 1-3: Shamwari Private Game Reserve Unlike other wildlife reserves, Shamwari Game Reserve is privately owned and one of the best family-friendly safari destinations in South Africa. In addition to staying in the luxurious lodge within the reserve, you'll enjoy twice-daily game drives to track the Big Five and witness thrilling predator hunts up close. 📍 Day 3: Plettenberg Bay A must-visit on the Garden Route for many Western travelers, Plettenberg Bay is still relatively unknown to domestic tourists. On the way, you'll pass through the dunes of Jeffreys Bay, where you can sandboard, surf, and swim. ✅ Experience: Take a boat tour to swim with seals in Plettenberg Bay. 📍 Day 4: Oudtshoorn Famous for its ostrich farming, Oudtshoorn offers close encounters with these fascinating birds. You can gaze into their long-lashed eyes and even ride an ostrich if you wish. There are also many products made from ostrich feathers, like clothing and hats. ✅ Experience: Take a boat tour of the Knysna Lagoon, visit the George Town Strawberry Farm, explore a hedge maze, and visit an ostrich farm. 📍 Day 5-6: Hermanus Hermanus is a renowned land-based whale-watching town. During whale season, spotters patrol the coast, and when they spot a whale, they blow a special horn. When you hear it, head to the shore to see the whales! Even outside of whale season, you can enjoy surfing, coastal walks, swimming, and, of course, delicious fresh oysters. ✅ Experience: Visit the Meerkat Safari Area and go whale-watching in Hermanus (May to December). 📍 Day 7-10: Cape Town I'd say Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world, and no one would disagree! With pleasant weather, stunning natural scenery, and delightful cuisine, my favorite part is the colorful Bo-Kaap neighborhood. The entire community is like a kaleidoscope, and every casual snap turns into a masterpiece. ✅ Experience: Visit Boulders Beach Penguin Colony, the Cape of Good Hope, take a Cape Winelands tour, and ride the 360° rotating cable car up Table Mountain. #SouthAfricaTravel #CapeTown #TableMountain #ChineseNewYear #GardenRoute #RainbowNation #TravelAbroad #Africa #HiddenGems
