A Block of Ice & You – The Unforgettable Viaduct Tavern! 🍸
Just a short walk from our room lies the legendary Viaduct Tavern – a place so rich in history, charm, and character that we found ourselves drawn back night after night. Compared often to the Princess Louise for its lavish decor, The Viaduct holds its own as a true gin palace with a soul all its own. 🍹 A Gin Lover’s Dream The gin and tonic menu runs for pages – we tried the classic G&T No. 3, served with ice cut slowly from a glistening, melting ice block. Each sip felt like a toast to tradition and craft. 🎨 Stunning & Historic Interiors The gorgeous leaf-patterned red ceiling isn’t copper or tin, plaster or stucco – it’s Lincrusta, an innovative material invented as a decorative wall and ceiling covering Downstairs lies a coal cellar (ask Jasmine if she has time to show you!) with holes in the ceiling where coal was once poured from the street. Not Newgate Prison cells, but just as fascinating! 🍻 Fullers London Pride & Toasted Delights Watching the Fullers London Pride barrels in action was a treat in itself The ham and cheese toastie was especially delicious – perfect with a crisp G&T If you’re drinking wine (and likely having more than one glass), try the St. Mark’s Sauvignon Blanc – you can even take any leftovers with you! 📍 A Sanctuary in the Crowds Book a seat – The Viaduct manages reservations beautifully Thursdays are the busiest – office workers kick off the weekend early, standing shoulder-to-shoulder For a little refuge, try Table 5 in the corner – a cozy nook away from the buzz 💖 The Heart of The Viaduct – Its People We returned every other night, always hoping to end our day here – and that was because of the wonderful team: Jasmine, who may just show you the cellar Sergio, who welcomed us so warmly on our first visit (just two hours after we’d landed in London!) Victor and Paige, who made every evening feel special #TheViaductTavern #GinPalace #LondonHistoricPubs #JasmineAndSergio #CozyCorners
