A Brief Taste of Rive Fish & Faible, a Seafood Restaurant in Hamburg

Located by the Elbe River in Hamburg, this German seafood restaurant has a menu full of French terms and is staffed by Italian waiters. It’s quite an eclectic experience. 🦪 Oysters (Oyster Tour David Hervé) Six oysters served with three different sauces: Sprouts with French mayonnaise (not particularly impressive). Bacon bits, scallions, and soy sauce (the crunch of the bacon contrasts a bit with the softness of the oysters). Japanese yuzu vinegar with nutty butter (this one was delicious!). 🐟 Spicy Tuna Sashimi😍 Not a classic Japanese sashimi. It features a creamy yuzu vinegar foam over raw tuna slices, avocado, and some kind of meat, all drizzled with Japanese light soy sauce. 🐟 Fried Fish (Rive Nuggets)😍 Surprisingly delicious. Made with Icelandic flounder, which has a firm texture similar to crab legs. Served with elderflower vinegar onions, radish slices, and French mayonnaise. 🥣 Marseille Fish Soup (Rive Bouillabaisse)😍 Their version of bouillabaisse includes lots of seafood and vegetables in addition to the fish broth. The large portion can serve as a main course, accompanied by small slices of French baguette and a type of French garlic and pepper sauce. Beverages: 🥂 The price for a bottle of champagne is about double the market rate. The wine service seemed a bit amateurish; the bottle was taken out of the ice bucket and just wiped off with an apron. Restaurant ambiance: Several Italian waiters make the experience quite enjoyable. Watching them serve tea and water feels delightful. The dining area is filled with elderly patrons, giving it an almost nursing home vibe. However, in the evening, you can enjoy the beautiful night view of the Elbe River harbor. #Germany #HamburgGermany #Hamburg #HamburgFood
