A Classic French Dining Experience in Paris đŸ„

Today is January 29th, 2025, the first day of the Lunar New Year. After arriving in Paris, our first French meal was at La Coupole restaurant, which is said to be one of the most famous dining spots in the city. And it truly did not disappoint! 🎉 đŸŒ· Ambiance and Atmosphere La Coupole, with its iconic dome, is one of Paris's most representative seafood restaurants. Established in 1927, it was once a gathering place for artists and intellectuals. The interior is designed in the decorative art style of the early 20th century, with a spacious hall, stained glass windows, vintage chandeliers, and hand-painted ceilings that transport you back to Paris in the last century. It has been a haunt for artists and writers like Picasso, Hemingway, and Henri Matisse, exuding a strong sense of history. 🎹 đŸŒ· Recommended Dishes La Coupole is famous for its seafood but also offers classic French cuisine. Here are some dishes we tried and our impressions: ✅ Seafood Platter (Plat royal) - Highly Recommended - A signature dish featuring fresh oysters, crab, lobster, whelks, and shrimp. It's perfect for sharing among a group. - Pairs well with a glass of dry white wine, such as Chablis. đŸ· ✅ French Grilled Snails (Escargots) - Recommended - Traditional Burgundy-style snails with garlic butter, rich and flavorful. ✅ Steak (Sole meuniere) - Highly Recommended - The meat is incredibly tender, served with French butter or mushroom sauce. It's delicious! 🍖 ✅ Sauerkraut with Sausages and Pork Knuckle (Choucroute coupole) - Recommended - A classic dish with flavors reminiscent of Paris in the colonial era. The sauerkraut is refreshing and aids digestion, while the pork knuckle is tender and flavorful. ✅ French Foie Gras (Foie gras) - A Must-Try - A must-order dish with rich curry flavors and tender lamb stewed to perfection. 🍖 ✅ Butter-Fried Fish (Noix entrecote) - Not Recommended - A French-style fried fish with a rich buttery flavor. The fish was a type I hadn't tried before, and personally, I found it a bit greasy. Our party of five spent a total of €261.5, averaging €52.3 per person. Considering we dined at a century-old establishment, the value for money was quite good. If you love the charm of old Paris and want to experience authentic French seafood, La Coupole is definitely a great choice. However, it's best to arrive early or avoid peak dining times, as tables can be hard to come by. We arrived just before 11 a.m. and left around 1 p.m., by which time the entire restaurant was fully booked, mostly with locals. 🕗 #FrenchCuisine #WesternFood #ParisianDelights #RestaurantRecommendation #FrenchLifestyle #HiddenGemRestaurant
