I recently celebrated a birthday at this French restaurant, attracted by its inviting ambiance and potential for a memorable evening. The restaurant indeed excels in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for special occasions.
However, my enthusiasm waned as the evening progressed. The prices, averaging between 30-40 euros per person, were steep given the quality of the overall experience. Our waiter, unfortunately, seemed indifferent, leaving us feeling neglected and unimportant.
The major disappointment came in the form of the food. The mussels, a menu highlight, were far from fresh and led to unexpected allergic reactions in my family, despite our lack of previous seafood allergies. This incident raised serious concerns about the restaurant's food sourcing and safety protocols.
Furthermore, the portion sizes were notably small, leaving us unsatisfied and questioning the value for money. While one of our dishes, the fish, was well-prepared, it wasn’t enough to salvage the overall dining experience.
What struck me most was the lack of concern from the staff. Despite the obvious issues with the mussels and our subsequent allergic reactions, no one from the restaurant approached our table to address the situation or inquire about our well-being. This indifference to customer satisfaction was deeply disappointing.
In conclusion, while the restaurant offers a pleasant ambiance, it falls short in terms of service, food quality, and overall value. The prices simply do not align with the experience provided. For a truly enjoyable dining experience, especially at this price point, I would recommend exploring other options...
Read moreI am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service my friends and I received during our recent visit to 'La Coupole'
Upon arrival, we encountered an unsettling situation at the entrance where a staff member, who appeared to be a manager, inappropriately handled one of my friends by pushing her away from the door. This behavior was shocking and set a negative tone for our evening. As we were on holidays and looking to enjoy a pleasant evening, we chose not to address the issue we faced at the moment.
After this incident, we were informed that there was no reservation under our name, despite having confirmation on our phones. Thankfully, we were eventually seated, but the confusion was frustrating.
Once at our table, we experienced a significant delay in service, having to wait approximately 20 minutes before one of my friends had to seek out a waiter. While we enjoyed the starters we ordered, our main dish, ; the 'Noix d'entrecôte' was overcooked. We specifically requested it to be cooked blue, but it was returned to us grilled and chewy.
Additionally, during our meal, one of our wine glasses was found to be damaged, featuring a hole. When we brought this to the attention of a waitress, her response was dismissive and unprofessional, as she laughed and remarked, "It's not your day today, guys."
Overall, this experience was far from acceptable. The poor service, lack of proper handling of our concerns, and the absence of apologies contributed to what we consider one of the most disappointing dining experiences we have ever encountered. We hope that management addresses these issues to ensure better service...
Read moreMy mother and I are visiting a relative nearby and decided to come here for dinner on Thursday the 17th of July. First of all, the hostess working that evening with the brown/blonde hair and thick eyelashes has the most disrespectful attitude. I speak four languages and though English is not my first language, let alone French, I’ve made it a priority to speak as much French as I can of course out of respect to the country I am visiting. With this in mind, clearly I am not close to fluent. She greeted us with the most bored expression, and then with a condescending smile, made the snarkiest comment at my expense about my French. A man who looked like either a manager or owner that was hovering by, stepped in right at that moment before I could respond (as if he knew it could not be good) and took us to a table inside. By the way, most places we’ve been to in France will always ask if you prefer inside or terrace. I don’t know if they’re saving the terrace for locals or what. Anyway, the food was truly nothing to write home about. Very ordinary. We enjoyed our dessert though so I gave extra stars for that. Finally, our server who had been pleasant up till this point, decided to shake me down for a tip. Very loudly and directly asking multiple times “You’re ok with the amount? So no tip?” Mind you, though it is not common to tip as far as I’ve experienced, I was planning on leaving a small tip in cash. Caught me so off guard and was a very odd interaction. All in all, not sure why the reviews for this place are so high, I’ve had much better service and food during this holiday and...
