A Complete 3-Day, 2-Night Solo Travel Guide to New Orleans
[Tulane University + Audubon Park + WWII Museum + Steamboat + Preservation Hall] 👉 The university is a filming location for Green Book and is highly recommended by many. But, the campus is too deserted during school breaks. However, the buildings have great historical value. Skip it if you're not interested. 👉 The university and Audubon Park are just a street apart. Perfect for a stroll with amazing air! I even swung on the swings with 5-year-olds here, lol! 😄 👉 You can visit the WWII Museum in the afternoon. I skipped it due to tiredness, but everyone who goes says it's fantastic. 👉 Evening Steamboat ride 🚢. Enjoy jazz dinner—highly recommend the 6 PM slot. The second one gets too chilly. The musicians were incredible! 🤩 But the buffet... meh. 😅 👉 Afterwards, went to Preservation Hall for jazz. It's been running since the 60s! A must-see! 🎷 Shows start at 5 PM with 5–6 sessions; queue up an hour early. Cash only, $20. [Oak Alley Plantation + Swamp Alligator Tour] Booked the Cajun Pride tour—saw alligators and raccoons in the swamp! 🐊 Also got to hold a baby gator! The Oak Alley Plantation is over 200 years old, surrounded by 28 grand oak trees. You can even tour the main house and learn about its history. Other Options: Witch tours, jazz clubs, art museums—all great places to explore. 🍜 Food Breakfast/Brunch: 【Ruby Slipper Cafe】 A tourist must-visit. Wait times start at 1 hour. The Bananas Foster French toast is tasty but can get too sweet. 🍌 【The Court of Two Sisters】 Jazz brunch 🎶. Live music from the morning, dining in the garden feels lovely! However, the buffet isn't the tastiest. 【Willa Jean】 Highly recommended! 🤤 Combines many Southern breakfast specialties—shrimp toast and chicken biscuit are so delicious! Afternoon Snack: Cafe Beignet and Cafe du Monde are the two most famous spots. I prefer the beignets at the first one—crispier and fresher! ☕ Dinner: 【Oceana Grill】 Another super popular seafood spot. Oysters are fresh, seafood pasta is unique, but even I (from the Northeast) found Southern flavors too salty! 😆 【Willie's Fried Chicken】 A NOLA chain—try the chicken breast if you have time! Super tender, but still salty~ 🍗 【Other famous spots: Acme, Luke's... NOLA is truly a foodie heaven!】 😋 🏨 Accommodation Definitely stay in the French Quarter. You can't go wrong with any choice there. ❗ Final Tips NOLA is perfect for a solo long weekend to experience Southern warmth and freedom. Also great for a 4-day, 3-night trip with friends—sleep in, relax, and soak in the laid-back vibe. It's a place I'd love to revisit—eat, drink, have fun, and dance freely! 💃🎉 #NewOrleans
