A Day Trip to Bratislava, the Capital of Slovakia
Continuing from the previous post, I was originally traveling in Vienna. After checking the distance, I decided to make a day trip to Bratislava since it’s so close. It only takes an hour on the bus from Vienna International Airport directly to the city center of Bratislava (you can buy tickets on the bus, and it drops you right at the tourist center 😂). Bratislava is divided into northern and southern parts by the Danube River, with most attractions located in the north. Due to tourism, the northern part appears more prosperous than the south. Slovakia is a developing country but has prices comparable to its developed neighbors. What makes Bratislava interesting is its maze of narrow streets. You can get lost in them and unexpectedly find yourself in another part of the city. It’s perfect for those who enjoy walking around. Attractions Guide🍀🍀 - There’s a sightseeing tram in the city with about a dozen stops, each at an attraction where you can get out and explore for a while before hopping back on. I prefer wandering around on foot, so I did everything independently. Main Attractions: 1️⃣ Bratislava Castle : You need to climb a bit and buy a ticket to enter. 2️⃣ Old City Walls : They still have that vintage feel, though unfortunately, they were damaged and are incomplete due to World War II. 3️⃣ Slavín Monument : This World War II memorial is on a hill. It takes a short walk to get there, but the view from the top is quite nice. 4️⃣ Churches : Lots of beautiful historic churches to visit. 5️⃣ Archbishop’s Palace : An impressive building with a rich history. Dining🥙 I only had two meals here, so I don’t have many recommendations. However, I can suggest avoiding the restaurants around the tourist center. The food is quite expensive and not particularly flavorful. I recommend walking a bit further to find local eateries that are cheaper and more authentic. bridge over the Danube River that connects the northern and southern parts of the city. There’s a panoramic restaurant right at the top center of the bridge. If you’re interested, you can make a reservation there for a meal with a view. #Bratislava #Slovakia #Travel
