A Day Trip to Portland from Boston

(Okay, let’s be real—I didn’t really explore much of downtown Portland itself… 😅) 📍 Nubble Light / Sohier Park I left Boston early in the morning, and my first stop was Nubble Light, which sits halfway between Boston and Portland. If you navigate directly to “Nubble Light,” you’ll end up at the parking lot—and the best part? It’s free! 🤩 That said, the lot isn’t very big; even on a weekday, it was almost full when I arrived. I highly recommend walking over to the rocky shore next to the parking lot—feel the sea breeze on your face, zone out for a bit (or “contemplate life,” if you’re feeling fancy), and just soak in the moment. The vibe is chef’s kiss for relaxation. 🌊 📍 Portland Head Light / Fort Williams Park This lighthouse is tucked inside Fort Williams Park, on the southern outskirts of Portland. Parking in the park costs $6 for two hours. Pro tip: Park at the first left-hand parking lot when you enter the park, then hike to the lighthouse via the cliff trail. The views along the way are absolutely stunning—total photo gold! 📸 Every corner feels like a postcard. 📍 Becky’s Diner This is a popular seafood spot in downtown Portland, and even when I got there around 2 PM, I still had to wait over 40 minutes for a table. To kill time (and my growing hunger), I popped into ISF Trading next door and bought some salted sea urchin. I was so starving I forgot to take a photo of it, but let me tell you—this sea urchin is the real MVP of the day. The rave reviews online aren’t an exaggeration at all! It’s the perfect appetizer while waiting for Becky’s… though fair warning: you can’t bring it into the diner to eat. (Trust me, I tried—and learned the hard way 😭.) As for Becky’s Diner itself? It was just “meh.” The fried seafood and lobster roll didn’t wow me—though that might be because ISF’s sea urchin set the bar way too high 😂. If you have another spot you’re dying to try, feel free to skip this one. #Food #BostonLife #BostonDayTrips #BostonFoodAndFun #AroundBoston #MyStudyAbroadLife #BostonStudyAbroad #PortlandTravel #Maine #MaineTravel
