A Day Trip to Saarbrücken, Germany 🇩🇪

October 23, 2024 Trier is quite close to Saarbrücken—just one hour by train 💨! After leaving the train station 🚉, I walked along the main road and found a long shopping street 🛍️, bustling with all kinds of stores—super lively! Next, I headed to the Bürgeramt (City Hall) 🏛️ for a quick photo, then explored St. Johanner Market 🏘️ and the Basilica of St. John the Baptist ⛪. Nearby, I stumbled upon an Antiquariat (antique bookstore) 📚, which not only sold books but also old maps and prints 🗺️. I ended up buying an 1860 German-made map of China & Japan 🇨🇳🇯🇵 for €20—a real-deal antique! The owner even showed me more of his rare collection—mostly 19th-century maps, but some were from the 18th century and even the 1600s! Mind = blown 🤯 (sadly, no photos allowed 📵). The prices? Sky-high—the oldest one was €350… My wallet said no 💸😭. This was my first time seeing a shop selling legit historical maps—a map lover’s dream come true! For lunch, I grabbed a Döner kebab 🌯 nearby, then walked to the Alte Brücke (Old Bridge) 🌉, crossed the river, and visited Saarbrücker Schloss (Saarbrücken Castle) 🏰. Afterward, I checked out the Historical Museum 🖼️ next door (student ticket: €4). A lovely small city—great weather, gorgeous scenery for photos 📸. In the afternoon, I hopped back on the train 🚆 and returned home. The biggest highlight (and best surprise)? Scoring that antique map! Now, I’ll definitely check out Antiquariats in other cities—who knows what hidden treasures I’ll find next? 🎉 #Saarbrücken #SaarbrückenDayTrip 🚆#GermanFrenchBorderTown#GermanyFranceBorder 🌍#GermanSmallTown 🏡#GermanTownVibes 🎑#Saarland 🌲
