A Delightful Lunch Experience! 😊

We had a fantastic lunch using a Virgin voucher—and it seemed like everyone around us was using one too! The deal included a 5-course meal paired with a refreshing cocktail. 🍸 The restaurant was located in a dimly lit basement, but the clever décor made it feel warm and inviting. I absolutely loved the vintage cartoons adorning the walls—such a fun and unique touch! 🖼️ From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm welcome, which set the tone for the entire experience. The service was impeccable—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. 👏 Now, let’s talk about the food! 🍽️ The first and second courses were served together. One was a delicate piece of salmon served on a thin crispbread. I asked for a squeeze of lemon juice on top, which added a lovely zesty kick. The other starter was a stunning combination of beetroot, walnuts, and premium goat’s cheese—absolutely divine! 😋 The third course was mackerel with watercress sauce and toasted sourdough. I must admit, I wasn’t entirely sure about the pairing of watercress with mackerel, and the dish was served cold, straight from the fridge. Not my favorite, but still interesting! ❄️ For the main course, we enjoyed a rich and flavorful Beef Bourguignon with creamy mashed potatoes. It was delicious, though I felt it needed a bit more seasoning. I wish I had asked for some English mustard to complement it! 🥩 Despite that, we both agreed the taste was excellent. We also ordered a side of creamed spinach, which was decent but nothing extraordinary. Dessert was a highlight! My wife’s chocolate mousse was top-tier—smooth, rich, and utterly indulgent. 🍫 But the real star of the show was my cheese platter! It featured two generous chunks of Stilton and Cheddar—both of exceptional quality. The accompaniments included crackers, butter, and a slice of sherry cake. 🧀 Now, the cake might sound unusual, but I was encouraged to try it with the Stilton, and what a brilliant suggestion! The combination was unexpectedly perfect. Strange as it may sound, it totally worked! 🙌 To drink, we started with cocktails upon arrival, followed by a bottle of French rosé, and then a bottle of Kiwi Pinot Noir. 🍷 The entire meal unfolded over a relaxed and enjoyable two hours—a true culinary journey! Oh, and I have to mention—the restrooms were spotlessly clean! 🧼 We ended up paying an extra £137 for the add-ons: cover charge, water, rosé, red wine, spinach, and a reasonable 9.5% service charge. 💷 Overall, I left feeling thoroughly satisfied and would highly recommend this restaurant! 🌟 #FoodieExperience #DeliciousLunch #RestaurantReview #CheeseLover #HighlyRecommended
