A Flawless Cafe in Slovakia's Ancient City

On a rainy morning, I arrived in the ancient city of Bratislava. Originally, Slovakia was just a stopover from Vienna to Budapest, and I had planned to wander around casually. However, I accidentally discovered this hidden gem of a cafe. Konditorei Kormuth may seem unremarkable from the outside, but while the average price for a cafe in Eastern Europe is basically 2-3 euros, the cheapest item here costs 9 euros. I crudely assumed that this place must be unassuming on the outside but extraordinary on the inside. As expected, stepping inside felt like entering a Renaissance-era European world. The entire cafe is renovated based on a historical building, so you can see 16th-century hand-painted murals covering every inch of the walls, 17th-century English antiques, 18th-century Italian chandeliers and pianos, 15th-19th-century Renaissance-style furniture, and gorgeous stained glass... Every piece of furniture and every set of tea utensils is a unique antique, making the experience of drinking coffee and enjoying desserts no longer just a matter of satisfying hunger and thirst, but a feast for the eyes in terms of historical art and aesthetics. This place instantly lifted my low spirits caused by the rainy weather and became an unforgettable memory of my trip to Slovakia. Here's what I ordered 👇🏻 KAVA Coffee with Whipped Cream – The signature drink of the house, ordered by almost every table. The coffee is of good quality, and the whipped cream on top is rich but not greasy. Rose Lemonade – Their homemade lemonade is a specialty. I ordered the rose flavor, and the rich floral fragrance hit me as soon as I took a sip. Earl Grey – Brewed with a tea bag, it's no different from the everyday Earl Grey. I ordered it for the antique tea set, which is quite exquisite. Picking up the small saucer and taking a sip of tea instantly made me feel fancy. Cheesecake – A very mediocre taste, neither good nor bad. Torta Jahodova Strawberry – A delicious strawberry cake! With clear layers and a delicate texture, it's slightly sweet, but you can balance it with the fresh strawberries on top or the Earl Grey tea. 📍 Sedlárska 363, 811 01 Bratislava ⚠️ There's a minimum consumption of 13 euros here. Basically, one drink and one piece of cake per person is enough. #AncientCityCafe #AtmosphericCafe #EuropeanCafe #Slovakia #BratislavaTravel
