🍷 A Great Place to Buy Wine (With Wine Tasting)
🍷If you love drinking wine, Germany is truly a paradise: there's a wide selection of wines, and the prices are generally affordable. You can enjoy a decent quality wine for just 5-10 euros, and many restaurants offer tasty and inexpensive Hauswein. 🍷For those who want to learn more, there are plenty of wine tasting classes, events, and exhibitions available. 🍷I'd like to recommend Jacques’ Wein-Depot, a German wine chain store. I recently attended a wine tasting event at their Lietzensee store in Berlin, and the owner was very attentive, making it highly recommendable. 🍷Jacques’ Wein-Depot was founded in Düsseldorf and is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. With nearly 280 chain stores across Germany and presence in other European countries, they collaborate directly with winemakers, cutting out the middleman. 🍷The staff generally possess extensive knowledge of wine and can recommend bottles based on your different needs. They have pricing across Germany, with many options in the 5-10 euro price range. Of course, they also offer higher-priced Premium wines to meet various daily needs (It has been pointed out by professionals that the selection here is not as comprehensive or refined as many other stores, and I hope for recommendations of better stores as I continue to learn. For my personal drinking and gifting for parties, the current selection is more than sufficient. With over 1000 wine options, it's really overwhelming to choose from). 🍷For those who aren't with wine and can't make decisions based on descriptions, the highlight is the option to taste the wines! While not all desired wines can be tasted, the store usually has over 200 wines available for tasting. Based on your general preferences, even if the recommended wines are not available, the staff can offer similar options for you to taste and help you decide. 🍷The store regularly hosts themed wine tasting events. At the event I attended at the Lietzensee store in Berlin, we tasted 9 premium wines (one not on the menu): from sparkling wines to champagne, white to red, and finally a 1970 amber wine. Each person received over 0.1L of each wine. If you encounter a wine you don't like, the store provides pouring bottles to dispose of it or you can share it with friends with different tastes. 🍷In addition to the wine, the owner prepared delicious snacks. The event lasted about two hours, mainly in German, covering topics like grape varieties, regions, wineries, and wine drinking. During the tasting, the owner and staff would mingle and casually chat with you, answering questions and treating both beginners and experienced tasters with equal attention. Of course, different stores have different owners and styles, and the wine selection varies, so it's best to check online reviews. 🍷Jacques’ offers online shopping and membership options. There are no membership fees, and upon applying, I received a free book. Besides seasonal discounts, they reportedly give a free bottle of wine on your birthday. #GermanLife #Berlin #BerlinLife #GermanWine #WineShopping
