A Great Waikīkī Hotel Option – But the Rooms Feel Dated 🏨
This was our first time staying at The Royal Hawaiian. We usually stay next door at the Sheraton Waikīkī, which we love for its modern, renovated rooms—though it can get quite loud and is often filled with kids. We thought we’d try The Royal Hawaiian this time, hoping for a quieter, more relaxed vibe with fewer crowds.✨ We booked a two-bedroom suite in the Historic Wing. The room was certainly spacious, but the sofa didn’t pull out, so we had to pay an extra $300 per night for two rollaway beds for our teenage daughters 💸. At the Sheraton, the suites include pull-out sofas at no extra charge. What’s more, the bathrooms were surprisingly small. This hotel is definitely in need of some modern upgrades—otherwise, it’s hard to justify the high resort fees, parking costs, dining prices, and nightly rates.🌅 The overall experience was pleasant, but we’re not sure we’d return unless the rooms receive a significant refresh. For now, the value and comfort next door still win us over.✨ #RoyalHawaiian #WaikikiStay #HistoricButDated #FamilyTravel #RoomForImprovement #SheratonAlternative #ValueMatters #HawaiiVacation #HonestReview #MaybeNextTime
