A Hidden Gem in Savannah šŸ†

A Hidden Gem in Savannah šŸ† When you visit Savannah, you have to check out Mrs. WilkesšŸ’—! šŸ“Address: 107 W Jones St, Savannah This place has lines that seem never-ending—you need to gather a table of about 10 people to be seated together, so the queue often snakes around the corner, stretching as far as the eye can see😱. Plus, they’re only open from 11 AM to 2 PM daily, and closed on weekends! But I got lucky—I went on a weekday at 1 PM and didn’t wait long. Total foodie luckšŸ˜ŗļ½ž šŸ’— Trust me, it’s worth every minute of the wait! Whether you’re alone or with friends, everyone sits around a table like family, sharing dishes made from recipes passed down through the owner’s grandma’s generations—24 to 25 dishes in total! There’s also sweet tea and desserts to choose from, and sitting with strangers feels totally comfortableļ½ž Chat with neighbors or enjoy your meal in peace—either way, it’s lovely✨. Every dish is classic Southern comfort food: crispy fried chicken, creamy grits, tangy baked ham, fresh veggie salad… With serving spoons for everyone, it’s hygienic and no waste—grab as much as you want, perfect for indecisive eaters! The grandma (granddaughter of the original owner) walks around smiling, asking, ā€œHow’s the food? Want a little more of anything?ā€ In that moment, you realize what ā€œpassing down loveā€ means—warm and comforting, like eating at a relative’s houseā¤ļø. šŸ—ŗļø There’s a sweet touch: A guest gave a world map, and every visitor pins their hometown. Looking at the wall covered in colorful pins, you can almost see all the happy memories made hereļ½ž Grandma even let me pin mine—now when you go, you’ll spot that one yellow pin on Inner Mongolia🩵! I took home grandma’s recipe book too. I’m definitely trying their grits recipe—can’t wait to recreate that warmth at homeļ½ž #savannah#savannahfood#SouthernUSA#savannahdiary
