A Hidden Seafood Gem Behind Covent Garden

I’ve been on the hunt for a great seafood restaurant in London, and this little place, Parsons, tucked away behind Covent Garden, was a delightful find. The setting is reminiscent of a vintage shop you’d find in Italy or Greece, quaint and charming, mostly visited by locals. The service is surprisingly good; you’re greeted with a sweet smile as soon as you make eye contact. It’s advisable to book in advance; even at 9 PM on a Friday, the place was packed. 📒 The menu changes daily, which is quite unusual for such a small establishment. 🦪 We started with three rock oysters and three French oysters. The rock oysters had a more intense oyster flavor, while the French oysters were lighter, sweet, and had a slight milky taste. The white wine pairing was spot on. 🐟 We ordered a grilled turbot, which was served with an aromatic fragrance, cooked in a healthy Mediterranean style. Paired with a special cream sauce with mussel and caviar, it was a soulful bite. The fish skin was soft and silky, offering a completely different texture from the meat! 🥬 The salad that came with the fish was also incredibly delicious, made with choi sum and Italian black vinegar, with the perfect amount of cheese. However, they were a bit heavy-handed with the lemon juice, which was so acidic it made me wince. Lemon-averse friends, proceed with caution! 🍋 🍮 For dessert, we had a seabuckthorn sorbet and a roasted apple ice cream. Compared to the previous dishes, they were somewhat underwhelming. The seabuckthorn sorbet was genuinely tart! I wouldn’t recommend trying it lightly. 🤣 Once again, I’m amazed at the chef’s fondness for acidity. ❤️ Lastly, I must mention their toilets. Having eaten at many restaurants, the cleanliness and attention to detail in Parsons’ toilets are commendable. If they take care of the toilets this well, the food can’t be bad (though it’s a bit of an odd way to put it) 🤔 I’ll definitely be back to Parsons! 🥰🥰🥰 #LondonLife #LondonCuisine #LondonFoodExploration #BritishCuisine
