🍶 A Hidden Ukrainian Gem in London

I discovered a Ukrainian restaurant in West London the other day, not many people have shared about it, and I didn’t expect Ukrainian cuisine to suit my taste so much. Highly recommended! The owner was in the store when I visited, very chatty, and the wine pairing he recommended was also excellent. 🐚 A must-try appetizer is the charcoal-grilled scallop, paired with sparkling wine. The scallops are plump and large, topped with a slice of Salo (a traditional Ukrainian cured pork fat). The scallops are not salted, and the salt and fat from the cured meat permeate into the scallops during charcoal grilling, combined with the smoky flavor. It weaves together with the scallop’s own freshness, leaving a lasting aftertaste. 🌟 Another must-try dish is the foie gras, recommended to order with sourdough. This dish is absolutely fantastic. The chef had a brilliant idea to top the foie gras paste with a layer of crispy caramel. The sweetness of the sugar perfectly brings out the aroma of the foie gras, with the crispy sweet coating paired with the creamy foie gras, spread on sourdough bread is pure bliss. The owner paired it with two glasses of yellow wine, a stroke of genius. 🍗 The Stuffed Chicken Wing is quite interesting, braised chicken wings stuffed with dried beef strips. The sauce is really a 1:1 replica of Chinese braised cooking. 🍢 The restaurant also has large skewers. 🍝 The main course features a unique chicken fungus pasta dumpling with a potato filling. The egg yolk coating the chicken fungus becomes more fragrant with each chew, another must-order dish. 🍰 For dessert, the honey cake and chocolate mousse have a rich aroma but are not too sweet, providing a satisfying end to the meal. The owner said he was originally a lawyer but ended up opening a restaurant by chance. He is very interested in food from different places, which is why there is Chinese wine in the store. At the beginning of February, he is preparing to collaborate with a Chinese chef for a East-West joint menu, which will feature 7 dishes and wines (including the charcoal-grilled scallops and caramel foie gras!) It sounds like it’s going to be amazing! #TheTasteOfTheYearStartsHere #HiddenGemRestaurant #GlobalNewYearFlavors #UkrainianCuisine #LondonFood #WalkingFoodMap #LondonFoodExploration #HotAndSteamyMeals
