A Hiker’s 3-Day, 2-Night Acadia Trip

Day 1: Boston → Portland → Freeport → Bar Harbor 🏠 Accommodation: Edenbrook Motel (Convenient location for accessing Acadia and Bar Harbor’s downtown—perfect for hikers on the go! 🎒) Day 2: Beehive Trail → Sand Beach → Jordan Pond → South Bubble Rock → Seal Harbor → Northeast Harbor → Otter Cliff / Otter Point 🧗 Beehive Trail: Must go early! We arrived at the parking lot around 8:30 AM, and the crowd was just right—not too busy, not too empty—super great experience! The trail is 1.6 miles long, with some sections requiring hands-and-feet climbing (like real rock climbing 🪨). It might feel a bit challenging, but the scenery along the way is so worth it—panoramic ocean views that get better with every step! 🚶 Jordan Pond & South Bubble Rock: These two spots are on the same trail. Pro tip: We accidentally took the downhill path on our way up, which made the actual downhill later super tough (make sure to follow the trail markers for the correct direction! ⚠️). The total trail is 3.4 miles, but the views are absolutely stunning—from the top, you can see Jordan Pond glistening below and the iconic “bubble-shaped” rock (South Bubble Rock) standing out against the landscape. 🌅 Otter Cliff / Otter Point: Finally, the weather turned from cloudy to sunny in the evening! We watched waves crash against the rocks at Otter Cliff—so dramatic and powerful. The area around Otter Cove is probably the most beautiful part of the Ocean Path 🤩. Skip Thunder Hole though—it’s surrounded by railings, always packed with people, and not nearly as impressive as the hype! We waited for the sunset at Otter Point around 7 PM, and it was so peaceful—golden light painting the sea, totally calming 😌. Day 3: Bar Harbor Pier → Cadillac Mountain → Gorham Mountain Trail → Boston 🌞 Bar Harbor Pier Sunrise: Woke up at 4:40 AM to catch the 5:00 AM sunrise—and it was life-changing! No more of the bleak, rainy sea we saw on Saturday; when the first ray of sunlight hit Bar Harbor’s cute little houses, my heart felt like it was melting 🥹. ⛰️ Cadillac Mountain: We booked a 6:30 AM parking slot for the mountain. Reaching the top and seeing the vast expanse of sea stretching to the horizon? Absolutely spectacular! The sky and sea blended into one, and I couldn’t even tell where the clouds ended and the ocean began—totally worth the early wake-up call! 🤩 P.S. The wind on the mountain is strong and a bit chilly, so bring a light jacket! On the way down, we stopped by the side of the road to check out Eagle Lake—crystal-clear water that’s a quick but lovely detour. 🥾 Gorham Mountain Trail: Our last trail before leaving Acadia—1.9 miles long, with a 1.5-hour round trip. Halfway up, you get ocean views similar to Beehive Trail (total Beehive “dupe” for those who want a less intense hike! 😎). From the summit, you can even see Cadillac Mountain in the distance. It’s a relatively easy trail but still offers amazing views—definitely a great way to end the trip! #Maine #Acadia #AcadiaGuide #BeehiveTrail
