A Hilarious Boat Adventure in Utrecht

The canals in Utrecht are especially beautiful! šŸžļø Unlike Amsterdam, it’s much less crowded, and photos can’t even capture half of its charm. If you have time, renting a boat to cruise the canals is a fantastic idea—super chill and relaxing! Unless you end up in one of those white pedal boats like we did. 🫠 Sure, they’re cheap (€38 for three people), but here’s the catch: you have to pedal to move! šŸš“ā€ā™‚ļø There are three routes—red, yellow, and blue (see pic 5)—but the owner didn’t explain the directions, so we blindly followed our instincts and, of course, picked the longest red route. 😫 The owner said we should ideally return in 1.5 hours, but it took us 2.5 hours of non-stop pedaling (with three people taking turns!)—basically a full lower-body workout. šŸ’€ Thank goodness we brought snacks (prosciutto, cheese cubes, and baby carrots—so good šŸ„•šŸ§€). Steering was another struggle—just a slight distraction, and we’d veer off course. šŸŒ€ The whole canal had only two other unlucky souls stuck in these pedal boats like us. If the scenery hadn’t been so stunning, we definitely would’ve abandoned ship halfway. šŸ˜‚ Bonus: We also spotted Utrecht’s famous traffic light girls and the Miffy (Nijntje) pedestrian light! 🚦🐰🄰 #Boating #Kayaking #TravelMemories #Travel #Vacation #Explore #Netherlands #Utrecht #Canals šŸŒŠšŸš£ā€ā™€ļøšŸ’Ø
