๐ A Leisurely Day Trip Around Turin: Susa + Avigliana ๐
Two charming towns for a day trip from Turin You can take a leisurely train ride from Turin straight to Susa, then on your way back, stop at the closer town of Avigliana before returning to Turin. Train route: Turin - Susa - Avigliana - Turin ๐ช Morning: Susa This is an incredibly peaceful valley town surrounded by snow-capped mountains. From anywhere in the town, you can enjoy the view of the mountains, with a misty atmosphere that is serene and beautiful. The town itself is not large. Walk by the river that flows from the snow mountains and pass by the main church, Cattedrale di San Giusto, which you can visit. Climb up a small hill, cross the Arco di Augusto, and after a short hike, you'll arrive at the small Roman Amphitheatre. On weekends, apart from a few bars, not many other shops are open, making it perfect for a slow stroll around town. Bring a homemade sandwichโit's quite pleasant. Don't forget to taste the local specialty pizza made with frosting sugar, available at the supermarket open on weekends. ๐ช Afternoon: Avigliana This town is perched on a hill. From the train station, you can directly navigate to Castello di Avigliana. Walking along the moss-covered stone path, you can hike to the castle at the highest point of the town, where you can overlook the entire town and the lake in the distance, Parco naturale Laghi di Avigliana. On the way, you can also visit the Church of St. John to see the paintings. If you still have time after descending the hill, consider taking a walk by the lake at Parco naturale Laghi di Avigliana, which is about a 30-minute walk. Both towns involve some hiking/climbing, but neither takes too long. The overall day is very leisurely, perfect for a relaxed weekend enjoyment. #Italy #Turin #DayTripFromTurin #ItalianTowns
