A new American restaurant with French cuisine

Ann Arbor’s New “French-Inspired” Spot – Mediocre Food, Overpriced, & No Surprises This new restaurant’s been open a while now—its menu looks totally unremarkable, but I still decided to give it a try. Spoiler: it didn’t change my mind about “meh” new spots in town 😕. 📍 First Impressions It’s inside a new hotel, so the dining area is loud (hard to chat without raising your voice). Service is just “okay”—not attentive, not rude, totally middle-of-the-road. The drink menu is pretty extensive (more on that later), but the food? Full of small, annoying flaws, and the value is below average. Also, the wait between appetizers and entrees was way too long—we were bored halfway through. 🥢 Apps: Tiny Portions, Big Flaws Shrimp Cocktail: Only 3 shrimp, but they’re huge and fresh—plus side. The cocktail sauce is weirdly spicy, though—tastes like they added heat to cover a faint fishy smell from the shrimp. Not bad, but not good either. Steak Tartare: No thought put into seasoning—just salt, and not even evenly sprinkled (some bites were way too salty). It needed something bright, like balsamic or a squeeze of lemon, to cut the saltiness. Total miss. House Salad: The acid-salt balance is fine, but they dumped way too much goat cheese on it—super tangy and salty. If you don’t love strong goat cheese, skip. Also, it’s tiny—just a few bites of greens for the price. Terrible value. 🥩 Entrees: Overcooked Beef, Salty Sauce We both got beef dishes, and both had the same big issue: overcooked meat. Angus Filet (Medium Rare): Came out medium, but luckily, it was still tender enough to eat—barely. The (doneness) was off, but it wasn’t a total disaster. New York Strip (Medium): Served pre-sliced, and it was way past medium well—dry, tough, and chewy. The black pepper sauce helped a little, but the sauce itself was insanely salty. To make it worse, the side potato had no salt at all—total flavor imbalance. 🍸 Drinks & Dessert (We Skipped Dessert) We only tried a Cosmopolitan—it was fine, nothing special. Hard to judge the full drink menu from one cocktail, but we noticed bottle service is overpriced (big markup). We skipped dessert after the main dishes—didn’t have high hopes. 💰 Final Take No drinks, two people, $90+ total. For that price, I expect more polished, thoughtful food—but this place just feels like a “fancy” hotel restaurant that calls itself “French-inspired” without delivering on the flavor. In Ann Arbor, options are limited, so I get why it exists—but I won’t be going back. Save your money for spots that actually care about taste. #UniversityOfMichiganAnnArbor #AnnArborSummer #AnnArborFood #AnnArborEats #AnnArborLife #AnnArborRenting #AnnArborRestaurants #AnnArborDaily #MichiganFood #MichiganEats
