A New York Joint That Writes Love Letters to Burgers (2)🍔
🗽The burger arrived, placed on a plain white porcelain plate. 🍔 The bread was a soft, buttery potato bun, and the thin, pressed beef patty was crispy and juicy. The melted cheese glued the bread and meat together, delivering a perfect blend of oil, milk, and meat flavors in every bite. A touch of yellow mustard and pickles added just the right amount of tanginess to cut through the richness. 🗽 I took a big gulp of ice-cold Coke, and it was like reliving the thrill all over again. 🥤 At the bar that night, aside from myself in the corner, there was a European-accented tourist, two guys with a West Village vibe, and two ladies with an East Village vibe. They were all eating burgers and chatting away. 🗣️ The burger was just the right height to hold in one hand, unlike many modern burgers that are too tall to bite into without looking like a T. rex. After eating, my lips were clean, not greasy at all. 🦖 On the wall to my right was a review from New York Times critic Pete Wells. I loved the phrase “honest American grease.” 🗽There’s no wagyu beef, black truffle oil, or foie gras here, and no lettuce replacing the bun. You don’t need to train your taste buds for years to appreciate the flavor layers. 🍔 If this place is a love letter to burgers from “hamburger expert” George Motz, then I, who came here after just a few drinks, also want to say to the burger, “I love you!” ❤️ #NewYork #NewYorkFood #NewYorkTravel 🗽
