A One-Night Guide to Nagarkot, Nepal
If, like me, you're feeling a bit(tired of the same old sights) in central Kathmandu, and want to briefly escape the hustle and bustle of Thamel, but don't have enough time to head to Pokhara or Chitwan—then come spend a night in Nagarkot. 🍐 🍇🍇It's less than 30km from Thamel, and takes just 1 hour by local Nepali bus from Bhaktapur Durbar Square (navigate to Nagarkot Bus Park and ride to the end). ⚠️ Seeing the Himalayan snow-capped peaks 🏔️ in Nagarkot really depends on luck. 🏔️🏔️ I encountered rain and didn't see them at all, but the scenery and tranquility here are still worth a one-night stay.🎋 🏡 Hotel Mount Paradise ⏯️Great value for money. The owner is incredibly kind, warm, and friendly, with excellent English—he even speaks a little Chinese. He happily shares details about the sunrise viewing times and routes at the top of the hill.🐮 🍟 His relative studies at Peking University, and he's visited China too, so we had a lovely chat! The guesthouse is beautiful . The owner is a vegetarian, and the vegetarian momo in P5 was delicious.🌽 🍽️ A roadside restaurant with amazing ambiance🐙 I popped in because the setting looked nice, and it turned out to be fantastic! 🚗 🌲🌲 there is beef momo, P8 is roast chicken—and this roast chicken was incredible, easily the best meal I had in Nepal. Dining on the balcony was absolute perfection. You could sit there quietly for hours.🚗 🚌 Nagarkot is a very peaceful village, with simpler, more genuine locals. It feels much more livable compared to Thamel. 🏔️ 👀👀Even without seeing the snow-capped mountains, falling asleep to mountain views and waking up to birdsong made for a wonderful night.💧💧 #KathmanduTravel#Nepal#Nagarkot
