Kathmandu Travel Diary: One Week | Thamel Street Food Guide

Stayed in Thamel for a week, here's a roundup of some places I ate! All locations are in Thamel Street โ€“ includes the good and the not-so-good! ๐Ÿ“Œ Google-able store names included below. 1. **katmandu coffee** ๐Ÿ˜Š Prices around 300 NPR. Ordered the Tofu Latte, refreshing taste. The atmosphere is particularly nice, the shop is very quiet, seats are sofas โ€“ super comfortable. Upstairs is a coffee school: The baristas coffee school. 2. **Himalayan Arabica Beans coffee** ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š Opposite the viral restaurant "4 stories". This place is also internet-famous, prices are on the higher side. Has a smoking section, but the food is especially delicious! Highly recommend their viral yogurt bowl ๐Ÿ’ก Think it was 400+ NPR. (Currently my top recommendation for Western food). 3. **Mehfil E Rasoi** ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š This is an Indian Masala restaurant. Portions are HUGE โ€“ my friend and I shared one dish and were stuffed. Taste was decent/average for me. The chai wasn't great, but the curry was particularly delicious. Most recommended is the Butter Naan โ€“ suggest ordering 3-4 naans. Our curry cost around 600+ NPR, super cheap price. 4. **classic momo house** ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š Many people recommend this place, but service is *extremely* slow! Ordered momo and waited 1 hour... However, prices are very cheap. Their noodles are very spicy, wouldn't recommend if you're starving. 5. **New Chongqing Restaurant** ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š Ate here on my first day after landing. The tomato egg soup was a bit watery... Price for two dishes was around 1000 NPR. 6. **chacha coffee** ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š This place is a hidden gem! Very quiet, suitable for studying or working. The staff is also super nice, location is great too! It's quite peaceful, very chill. Ordered the Dry Pot Rice and it was also especially delicious!! (Currently my top recommendation for a coffee/work spot). 7. **Lโ€™ARTISAN PATISSERIE & BOULANGERIE** ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š Warm-toned style. Breads range from 300-600 NPR. The bread is delicious! Recommend the baked goods. This place is also quite suitable for working or chatting. That's the one-week food guide. Also, surprisingly, gemstones in Nepal are so affordable! If interested, I'll continue sharing guides on accommodation and English hobby classes โ€“ also based on personal local experiences. Welcome to discuss! ๐Ÿ’ก #Nepal #Kathmandu #food #ThamelStreet #FoodDiary
