A Perfect Two-Day Autumn Getaway

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿšฃโ€โ™€๏ธNovember is the ideal season to experience the stunning fall colors at Caddo Lake. With a relaxed pace and a handful of scenic spots, itโ€™s the perfect weekend escape. Hereโ€™s my two-day, one-night itinerary from Dallas โ€” feel free to use it as inspiration or share your own suggestions! Day 1: Dallas โ†’ Caddo Lake โ†’ Marshall Morning:๐Ÿš— Depart Dallas around 8โ€“9 AM Drive east for about 3.5 hours to Caddo Lake ๐ŸŒฟ Afternoon:๐Ÿ›ฅ๏ธ Boat Tour at Caddo Lake I booked with Johnson's Ranch Marina (highly recommended!). 1-hour tour: $40+ (price may increase if others cancel) Book at least 3โ€“5 days in advance โ€” I only got a noon slot! Lucky sighting: We saw an alligator ๐ŸŠ! The captain said it was his first in almost a month. ๐Ÿ›ถ Canoeing at Caddo Lake State Park First-come, first-served; hourly rental. Go early โ€” canoes run out by afternoon! Perfect for sunset views โ€” the foliage here is breathtaking ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒ… Evening:๐Ÿ˜๏ธ Drive to Marshall (~30 mins from Caddo Lake) ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Dinner in town ๐Ÿจ Overnight stay in Marshall โœจ Stroll through the charming downtown โ€” holiday lights were already up! ๐ŸŽ„ Day 2: Morning Fog โ†’ Johnsonโ€™s Ranch โ†’ Tyler Rose Garden โ†’ Home Early Morning: โ˜๏ธ Sunrise & Fog Viewing Headed back to the sunset spot around 6 AM โ€” no fog this time, but the morning light was still magical โ˜€๏ธ. Many photographers were out capturing the scene Late Morning:๐ŸŒฟ Quick visit to Johnsonโ€™s Ranch area ๐Ÿก Return to hotel for check-out and rest Afternoon:๐ŸŒน Tyler Rose Garden Located about halfway between Caddo Lake and Dallas. Even in mid-November, plenty of roses were still in bloom! Peak seasons: March & October, but November has its own quiet beauty ๐ŸŒท๐Ÿ“ธ Evening:๐Ÿš— Head back to Dallas, relaxed and refreshed. ๐Ÿ’ก Travel Tips & Notes Boat Tours: Book early for preferred times (sunset slots go fast!). Canoes: Arrive by mid-morning for the best chance to rent. Fog: More likely on cool, humid mornings โ€” check weather reports. Lodging: Marshall offers cute B&Bs and chain hotels. Timing: Fall foliage peaks in early to mid-November. โœ… Why This Trip Works Balanced mix of activity (boating, canoeing) and relaxation (small-town strolls, garden visits). Scenic variety: swamp landscapes, fall colors, historic towns, and floral displays. Easy to customize โ€” add hiking, fishing, or more time in Tyler if you wish. Whether youโ€™re a nature lover, photographer, or just someone looking to unwind surrounded by autumn beauty, Caddo Lake delivers a serene and memorable escape. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ“ท #US #Texas #Dallas
