A Pleasant Culinary Surprise in Fairbanks, Alaska

A Pleasant Culinary Surprise in Fairbanks, Alaska: Chowder House After spending a few days in Fairbanks, I still hadn’t found a chance to enjoy a proper seafood meal. Finally, after enduring continuous cold spells and snow, I decided to treat myself to this restaurant ❄️🦀. For the first time, I tried a crab roll made with whole crab leg meat—two pieces per order. The crab meat was generous, with a fresh and light flavor that wasn’t greasy at all. The garlic shrimp was also a delightful surprise—rich in garlic aroma without overpowering the taste. My boyfriend and I ended up dipping all the accompanying bread into the sauce and finishing every last bit 🍞. The smoked salmon soup was truly comforting. After drinking it, I felt completely warmed up—perfect for such chilly weather. The king crab was priced at market rate, so we skipped it as it was a bit expensive. We plan to buy some later at Costco and have it prepared at a Chinese restaurant instead—much more cost-effective, haha 😄. The restaurant has its own parking lot, making it very convenient. We arrived around 4:30 PM and were seated right away without any wait. The kitchen seemed to prepare dishes table by table in order, unlike some places that prioritize takeout orders first, which made for a great dining experience. The servers were also very friendly, making us feel comfortable and welcome. In the cold of Fairbanks, a warm and satisfying dinner like this is truly what one needs 🥹.
