📜 A Quick Note on Honduras' Former Capital: Comayagua 🇭🇳🏰
A spontaneous layover led me here—a charming town just 1.5 hours by car from Tegucigalpa (the current capital 🚗💨). To my surprise, the streets were spotless 🧼, and the little square in front of the cathedral felt straight out of a postcard . Coincidentally, I stumbled upon a wedding photoshoot here! Best part? Almost no tourists 🙌, so wandering around in daylight felt totally safe 🚶♂️. 📸 Highlight Reel Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception – Free entry! Saw locals praying devoutly inside. Museo Comayagua y Arqueológico 🏛️ ($10 USD ticket with a guide ). Fascinating! Housed authentic pottery from 400–950 AD 🏺, tools crafted from volcanic lava , and clear signs of social hierarchy, religion, and totem worship back then. Also covered Spanish colonial artifacts and restoration efforts 🇪🇸. Museum gift shop – Accepted USD but gave change in local currency 💸. Bought two tiny trinkets (still unsure what they’re for… decorative pieces for now! ). The ticket lady💬 warmly recommended several Chinese restaurants—only remembered Restaurante Nuevo Mundo 🍜. Next visit, I’m trying it! #WorldExplorer #HondurasAdventures #ComayaguaChronicles 🌍
