A Relaxing Waikīkī Beach Day & Local Finds

It’s our last day on O‘ahu, and with an afternoon flight ahead, we kept it simple and soaked up the easy vibes of Waikīkī. Having stayed in a condo right by the beach, I woke up to this view every morning (pics 4-5)—but somehow didn’t actually step onto the sand until today. Sometimes you overlook what’s right outside your door! 🌅 Morning in Waikīkī Waikīkī is the island’s busiest hub. By 7 AM, there were already people jogging along the shore, surfing, or sailing just off the coast. Lines formed early at McDonald’s and local coffee shops—this place wakes up lively! ☕ Food & Coffee Stops We tried two popular spots: Island Vintage Coffee – They have two locations: one for coffee/pastries, the other for full meals. The taro bagel is as good as everyone says 🍠🥯, and the Mocha Freeze was a perfect sweet treat. Kona Coffee – Honestly, just okay. The viral chocolate-banana croissant felt a bit overhyped—reminded me of what you can find at Our Bakery back in China. 🛍️ Shopping & Groceries From luxury boutiques and Kith to DFS and countless ABC Stores, Waikīkī has it all. A few tips: Target is surprisingly affordable even in this touristy area. Love Naked juice? ABC Stores charge nearly $5, but Target sells it for just over $3—same price as Walmart! For yogurt, snacks, or chocolates to bring home, Target’s pricing is solid. If you’re stocking up for a longer stay or cooking, Walmart or Costco will save you more. 🏄 Beach Vibes & Local Life Waikīkī may not be the most breathtaking beach in Hawai‘i, but it’s full of life and convenience. I loved watching locals live that true island life—stripping down to swim anytime, then throwing on a quick-dry robe and driving home like it’s no big deal. So simple, so free. 🧴🚗 ✨ Final Thoughts Sometimes the slowest days make the sweetest memories. Grateful for sunny skies, gentle waves, and the relaxed energy of Waikīkī.
