Acadia Road Trip (2 People + 2 Dogs Edition) – Food & Drinks Guide
I finally have time to write about the restaurants we tried during our trip to Maine! Since it wasn’t lobster 🦞 season, I’m hoping to come back again in summer someday~ Portland: ISF Trading 🦞 This highly recommended seafood wholesale spot is famous for its uni (sea urchin) and all kinds of fresh seafood—you can smell the strong ocean breeze as soon as you walk in. When we arrived, there wasn’t a long line, but when we passed by again on our way back, the queue had gotten much longer. Surprisingly, the guy at the counter recognized us and asked if we’d just bought something earlier! We got two types of uni: I preferred the saltwater uni, but the one in the wooden box was also delicious. The salmon tasted super fresh too. When the guy heard we had a 3-hour drive ahead before we could eat, he even added ice to our bag to keep the seafood cold 🧊. The prices are cheaper than restaurants—if I get the chance, I’ll definitely repurchase the uni and salmon here. Brunch: 2 Cats (Bar Harbor) ☕️ We woke up pretty late the next day, and many brunch spots were either closing soon or closed for the off-season, so we picked this one since it had good reviews. I ordered their Lobster Benedict, and I loved it! I also tried a beef hash—it was really fresh. The coffee was just okay: it was a decent espresso, but nothing mind-blowing. Choco-Latte Cafe ☕️🥤 In the morning, I got an orange milk foam cold brew. If you like unsweetened milk foam, you’ll probably enjoy this flavor. We went back in the afternoon for a blueberry lemonade 🫐—since Maine is known for blueberries, everything blueberry-themed is super popular here, and this drink was right up my alley! Brunch: Reading Room 🌊 This spot is right by the sea—you can enjoy the view of waves crashing onto the beach while you eat. The decor is elegant, and it’s located inside a hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel isn’t dog-friendly (we asked the front desk specifically 😔)—otherwise, we would’ve loved to stay there! I ordered the lobster hash and loved it. I hope I get to try their dinner menu someday. Geddy‘s 🦞🥧 Even though it was the off-season, they still had lobster available. We got a set meal, and the blueberry pie in it was amazing! The lobster was fresh too. It feels like all the restaurants on this street in Bar Harbor are great. Vacationland ☕️ I just checked, and it seems like this place is temporarily closed? Its unique selling point is that they’ll pour your latte into a jar right on the spot. But when I opened it to drink the next day, it was… way too bitter 😣. I’d added maple syrup and coconut milk, but I couldn’t taste either at all. That said, the owner was really friendly—he recommended places to visit and even told us about the tour programs he runs (only available in summer). Honorable Mentions (No Photos) 📸 Blaze: We went here too, but they didn’t have their wood-fire lobster due to the off-season—total bummer 😞. Coffee Hound: We tried their popover here, and the maple butter that came with it was delicious 🧈! We also had blueberry ice cream—highly recommend that too 🥣! #Portland #Maine #Food #PortlandFood #MaineFood #JetBlue #USATravel
