Addis Ababa|Museum Guide
🗿 Ethio National Museum 📍The museum is relatively small. The ground floor houses the star exhibit—the fossilized skeleton of Lucy, an early human ancestor. The first floor features a variety of culturally significant Ethiopian artworks, while the second floor displays traditional weapons, jewelry, utensils, clothing, musical instruments, and more. 🌼 Addis Ababa Museum 📍The entrance is hidden behind Meskel Square, but the interior is tranquil and serene. 🌍The museum is housed in a charming reddish-brown wooden building, and from the courtyard, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Meskel Square. The ticket costs only 50 Birr, and while the exhibits are limited, they focus on the history of Addis Ababa (which literally means "New Flower"). Upstairs, there’s a small art gallery showcasing various artworks. ⚔️ Adwa Museum 📍A newly built modern museum commemorating the Battle of Adwa, one of Ethiopia’s proudest moments.🌍 Facing a well-equipped and trained Italian army, Ethiopian soldiers fought fearlessly and valiantly, repelling the invaders and securing victory at Adwa. Since then, Ethiopians proudly declare that their country was never colonized.🔥🔥 🩸 Red Terror Martyrs’ Memorial Museum 📍Political movements are often marked by both "heroism" and "brutality." The atmosphere here is similar to that of the "Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall" in China—somber and heavy. From the entrance, you can sense the immense suffering endured during this period, when countless Ethiopians were brutally killed. The museum’s mood is so oppressive that I couldn’t stay long. Admission is donation-based; I was allowed in even though I didn’t have cash that day.🔥🔥 📧 Ethio Post Museum 📍Located next to the Post Office Building and near an ENTOTO branch, this museum preserves artifacts related to Ethiopia’s postal service from its inception to the present. The highlight is undoubtedly the stamp collection, featuring a unique pull-out display system that saves space while evoking the feeling of opening a historical drawer. Admission is 150 Birr, and it’s open on weekdays.🔥🔥 #ArtAndArchitecture #Museum #CheckIn #Travel #Africa
